Mission: College of Medicine University of Anbar(AUCOM),is a governmental educational institution that admits high marks students from secondary schools, strives to provide high-quality medical education to prepare Graduate physicians with high scientific and professional competence, continuously aligned with modern developments in healthcare for society. To meet the healthcare needs of Iraq and address global health challenges. Our value that our physicians are professional, social accountable, kind to patients safe and innovative. AUCOM's vision is to be a pioneer college nationally and elsewhere in medical education, research, and community services. The college is committed to implementing comprehensive quality standards and providing a stimulating academic environment that supports lifelong learning. Contributes to the development of the national healthcare system through qualified and professionally trained medical doctors, conducting practical scientific research, and executing community health initiatives. AUCOM is dedicated to offering high-quality medical education, research, and healthcare services that align with global advancements. Aims: AUCOM graduates are qualified doctors at the basic level, capable of continuing their careers in any branch of medicine. They are committed to fulfilling their roles in the healthcare sector, prepared for postgraduate medical education, and committed to lifelong learning. Educational Strategy: The college use a traditional curriculum, preclinicalphase of 3 years basic biomedical science and 3 years of clinical phase according to time table strategic plan, enhanced with complex elements to enhance the integration of basic and clinical sciences with same level of assessment methods according to quality assurance follow up protocol, depend on theoretical large group learning, seminars, tutorials with interactive teaching methods, bed side teaching methods, interactive case discussion, clinical groups in hospitals and primary health centers clinical training, skill lab training sessions, using internet teaching methods, web site teaching methods,with some changes toward structured approach that promotes critical thinking and problem-solving cases in students,. Our educational strategy is based on outcomes-based learning, small-group learning, case discussions, early clinical exposure, and regular clinical training to ensure the development of students' basic medical knowledge and practical clinical competencies. Type of Curriculum: Curriculum Type: Traditional curriculum with a changes to match horizontal and vertical alignment between clinical and pre-clinical phases,with interdisciplinary integration, which gives more emphasis on learning than teaching, to cover researches and global need. Instructional Methods: Lectures are delivered in a variety of formats, including large group and small group instruction, laboratory exercises, skills labs training sessions, clinical demonstrations, and bedside teaching. Interactive case scenario discussions in hospitals and primary care settings, web-based instruction, research practice sessions, conference participation for CME (continuous medical education) training, and enhance manipulative training for CPD(continuous professional Development)training are also supported. Assessment Methods: Assessments are conducted through written tests, objective-based clinical examinations (OSCEs), formative assessments, assessment of procedural and practical skills proficiency, and portfolios, which enhance continuous feedback, interaction between students and faculty members, and professional development. Curriculum Management: The curriculum is centrally managed through central curriculum committees, with student and faculty participation, to ensure continuous adaptation and improvement. Feedback: Regular feedback from students and faculty ensures that the College of Medicine at Anbar University's mission is aligned with its goals. This ongoing feedback helps refine curricula and teaching methods, promoting continuous improvement in education, research, and clinical care. The Educational Program Oversight Committee analyzes the feedback. Monitoring and Evaluation: Ongoing semi-annual monitoring with data-driven assessments ensures that AUCOM's mission remains aligned with its objectives. Medical Research:Encourages scientific research and collaboration among faculty and students to address healthcare challenges, improve patient outcomes, and update curricula. Global Health: Preparing students to address global health issues and fostering leadership in health innovation and policy.
