Psychological counseling and educational guidance unit

 1. Vision

The unit aspires to build a safe and healthy university environment that contributes to the development of students’ medical and academic personalities, while helping them face psychological, social, and academic challenges in harmony with the mission and goals of the College and University.

2. Mission

To provide comprehensive psychological and educational counseling services that promote students’ mental health and positive behavior, supporting their academic journey through specialized programs and activities in collaboration with the College Dean’s Office and academic departments.

3. Objectives

  • Provide psychological and educational support to help students adapt to the demands of medical studies.

  • Address psychological and social issues that may hinder academic performance.

  • Promote awareness of psychological well-being and sound university conduct among students.

  • Reduce failure and dropout rates through early intervention.

  • Reinforce university values such as respect, cooperation, and institutional belonging.

4. Duties of the Unit

Psychological and Social Counseling:

  • Provide individual and group psychological support sessions.

  • Monitor cases of psychological or behavioral disorders.

  • Refer complex cases to specialized medical institutions.

Academic and Educational Counseling:

  • Guide students toward effective learning strategies and time management.

  • Assist in resolving academic and examination-related problems.

  • Follow up with academically struggling students and develop remedial programs for them.

Awareness Activities:

  • Organize seminars, workshops, and awareness programs on mental health and stress management.

  • Design special programs to reduce exam anxiety.

  • Implement activities that strengthen teamwork and sense of belonging.

Coordination and Follow-up:

  • Collaborate with the Dean’s Office and academic departments to address students’ issues.

  • Communicate with students’ families when necessary to ensure family support.

  • Prepare periodic reports on the unit’s activities and submit them to the Dean’s Office.

5. Work Mechanism

  • Receive students at the unit’s office and document cases with full confidentiality.

  • Classify cases (psychological, social, academic) and design suitable intervention plans.

  • Follow up on the implementation of counseling plans regularly.

  • Evaluate outcomes and submit periodic reports with recommendations to the Dean’s Office.
