Visit by a Committee from the Iraqi Council for Medical Specializations to the College of Medicine to Accredita Training Center for the Iraqi Board in Anesthesia and Intensive Care

 As part of the ongoing efforts by the College of Medicine at the University of Anbar to advance Iraqi Board programs, enhance scientific standards, and deliver premium healthcare services in Anbar Province, the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Waleed Nassar Jaffal, received a delegation from the Iraqi Council for Medical Specializations’ Scientific Committee for Anesthesia and Intensive Care. The meeting, held in his office, was attended by Dr. Iyad Arak Mukhlif, Director of Ramadi Teaching Hospital; Assistant Professor Dr. Luay Asaad Mahmoud, Head of the Surgery Department at the college; Dr. Jassim Mohammed Khalaf, Head of the Surgery Department at the hospital; Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Abbas, Anesthesia and Intensive Care Specialist; Dr. Khidhir Falah, Head of the Anesthesia Department at the hospital; along with a number of academic staff and specialized physicians. Discussions focused on mechanisms to accredit a training center for anesthesia and intensive care at Ramadi Teaching Hospital. Both parties also explored ways to strengthen collaboration between the college and the Iraqi Council to bolster medical education and develop healthcare professionals.  

 
During the visit, the committee conducted an on-site tour of training facilities, operating theaters, and intensive care units. Members expressed satisfaction with the available infrastructure and resources, affirming the center’s readiness to serve as a distinguished training platform for Iraqi Board candidates.  
 
The delegation also visited Ramadi Teaching Hospital for Women and Children for the same purpose. They were welcomed by the hospital’s director, Dr. Hatem Hamdan; Dr. Muhannad Shaker, Head of Pediatric Surgery; and the Head of the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Department. The committee reviewed the hospital’s training capabilities and its preparedness to integrate into the advanced medical training network.  
 
The committee commended the efforts of the College of Medicine and the university leadership in achieving this milestone, emphasizing that accrediting the center marks a significant leap forward in improving healthcare services and elevating the quality of medical training in the province.
