Anbar University Receives Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, Akira Endo, and His Accompanying Delegation
Anbar University welcomed His Excellency the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, Akira Endo, and his accompanying delegation in a visit aimed at strengthening cooperation ties between Japanese universities and Anbar University, and opening channels for academic and research collaboration. The reception was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Wesam Hashim Khalil, Vice President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Walid Nassar Jifal, Dean of the College of Medicine, and several members of the University Council, alongside Dr. Wesam Hashim Khalil.
Welcoming Ceremony and Speeches
The visit program began with an introductory video about the university produced by the Government Communication and Media Department, followed by a welcoming speech delivered by Dr. Wesam Hashim Khalil. He emphasized the university’s pride in this visit and appreciated Japan’s efforts in supporting knowledge and research cooperation. He added, "Our university aspires to strategic partnerships that enrich the academic journey and serve society."
For his part, the Japanese Ambassador expressed his pleasure at visiting Anbar University, stating, "I will work diligently to strengthen relations in all forms, serving the interests of both countries," highlighting Japan’s commitment to supporting Iraq in education and innovation.
Achievements and Symbolic Gifts
The visit included the participation of Mr. Jamal Al-Jawahiri, Executive Director of the Iraqi Hope Organization, who expressed his happiness at taking part in the event and stressed the organization’s commitment to supporting higher education in Anbar.
The Japanese Ambassador also presented an X-ray machine as a symbolic gift to the university, to be used for early disease detection. Dr. Wesam Khalil received the device, noting that it represents a qualitative addition to community services.
Showcasing Achievements and Future Cooperation
The program featured a presentation by Assistant Professor Dr. Dured Muayad Abdul, Director of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department, highlighting the university’s most prominent scientific and research achievements. A discussion session was also organized on future cooperation mechanisms between the university and the Japanese side, including expertise exchange and academic programs.
Conclusion of the Visit with Symbolic Honors
At the conclusion of the visit, the university presented a commemorative shield and a collection of its scientific publications to the Japanese Ambassador as a symbol of fruitful cooperation. Memorial photos were taken with the Japanese delegation, affirming both parties’ desire to build knowledge bridges that contribute to the development of education and scientific research.
