The College of Medicine at Anbar University Organizes an Awareness Seminar on the Dangers of Drugs

Under the esteemed patronage of Professor Dr. Walid Nassar Jaffal, Dean of the College of Medicine, the college held an awareness seminar titled:
"Raising Awareness Against the Dangers of Drugs: Addressing Their Severe Impact on Society and Highlighting Punitive Laws for Dealers, Promoters, and Users of These Destructive Substances" on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
The event featured a group of experts and specialists and was attended by faculty members, staff, and students of the college.

Seminar Objectives and Themes:

The seminar aimed to:

• Raise awareness of the dangers of drug use and trafficking.
• Highlight the physical, psychological, and social harm caused by drug abuse.
• Explain strict punitive laws against those involved in promoting or consuming these harmful substances.

Seminar Sessions and Contributors:

• Preventive and Health Perspective:
  Presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emad Ali Al-Shammari and Asst. Prof. Dr. Rouya Abdulhadi Mohammed Saeed from the College of Medicine, Anbar University.

• Legal Perspective:
  Presented by Mr. Marwan Mohammed Abdullah, Head of the Relations and Media Division at Directorate 495, Ministry of Interior, and First Translator Walid Khalid Mohammed, Head of the Training Division at the same directorate.

• The seminar rapporteur was Asst. Prof. Dr. Noor Adnan Mohammed from the College of Medicine.

Conclusion:

The seminar concluded with an interactive session during which students’ questions about legal and procedural mechanisms for reporting drug abuse cases were addressed.
