The College of Medicine Organizes a Scientific Symposium on Environmental Pollution and Its Impact on Public Health

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Nada, President of the University of Anbar, and in partnership with the Anbar Environment Directorate and the Palace of Culture and Arts in the province, the College of Medicine – University of Anbar organized a scientific symposium under the slogan "Clean Environment, Healthy Life," entitled: "Environmental Pollution and Its Impact on Public Health." The event took place on the morning of Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

In his opening speech, the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Waleed Nassar Jafal, welcomed the esteemed attendees, praising the active role of partners from official departments and civil society institutions in ensuring the success of this significant scientific event. He emphasized that holding this symposium aligns with the college's vision and mission to serve the community, in accordance with the global sustainable development goals, particularly Goal 3 concerning good health and well-being, Goal 6 on clean water and sanitation, and Goal 13 on climate action.

He highlighted that addressing the dangers of environmental pollution is a scientific and ethical commitment and part of the college's responsibility to prepare a conscious generation capable of driving positive change and protecting the human right to a healthy and safe environment.

Dr. Jafal also stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation with state institutions and civil society organizations, as exemplified in this symposium, which serves as a true model for integrating efforts to achieve sustainable development goals in practice.

The symposium was attended by several members of the Anbar Provincial Council, including Dr. Anmar Al-Sidran, Chairwoman of the Health and Environment Committee, Engineer Qais Naji Abdul, Director of the Anbar Environment Directorate, and several other officials, specialists, and individuals interested in environmental and health matters.

The event featured scientific lectures addressing issues such as kidney failure diseases and their causes, cancer diseases and their relationship with the environment, and the environmental realities in Anbar Province. The lectures were delivered by Dr. Khalid Masir Ramidh, Dr. Ayman Adnan Deilan, and Engineer Ismail Atiyah, who presented scientific analyses supported by practical solutions and recommendations to promote a clean environment and healthy life within the community.
