An expanded meeting of the Joint Cancer Research Committee between the Al-Anbar Oncology Center and the College of Medicine at the University of Anbar was held at the Oncology Center, attended by Dr. Nabeel Mazhar Talib, Director of the Center, Dr. Yaqoob Salem Saleh, Associate Dean of the College of Medicine for Scientific Affairs, along with a number of medical specialists and faculty members from both sides.

The meeting addressed several important topics, foremost among them the development of a joint research action plan focusing on regional priorities in oncology, the activation of collaboration in clinical and laboratory studies, and the identification of logistical and scientific requirements needed to ensure the success of these studies. Initial ideas for research projects were also reviewed, particularly those targeting early cancer detection and the study of environmental and genetic factors linked to its prevalence in Anbar Province.

This meeting was held in line with the directives of Prof. Dr. Waleed Nassar Jafal, Dean of the College of Medicine, who emphasized the importance of supporting cancer research and providing all forms of scientific and technical assistance to researchers, ensuring robust research outcomes that contribute to the improvement of healthcare services for patients and enhance the university’s standing in the field of medical research.
